Happy New Year! I know it's a little late, but I hope the New Year brings you everything you've wanted.
Me, I'd like to have something ready for publication by the end of this year. That's my goal. It's been a struggle, though. I never realized how much work is actually involved in writing. Of course, there's the writing side, but in addition, there's also the business side. Answering emails, checking on new publishing companies, updating your blog, updating your website. Finding time to do it all can be tough, but if your heart is in your work you find a way to get through. Stay positive in your efforts and true to your writing...it will all come out right-side-up in the end. Until next time...

I never realized how much work it is to be a writer...of any kind. I write Romantic Suspense. I thought it was a matter of sitting down at your computer with a piping hot cup of coffee and punching out words by the thousands. Someone told me once to just puke on the page and sort it out later. Sounds easy, right?
Not quite. Before you can allow your fingers to run rampant on your keyboard, your mind has to consider important aspects of writing like:
Please feel free to leave a comment. Website? Never had one. Blog? Never wrote one. So here I am on my newest journey into the world of creating a website and a blog. I'm new to this so please bear with me. I promise, I will get better.
I am a writer of fiction. More specifically, I write romantic suspense fiction. Romantic suspense is romance with a twist. Stories that will intrigue you and challenge your mind to figure out "who done it." Believe me, it's not always the butler. I'm hoping to have the first of my five "works in progress" (or WIPs) ready for the publisher either late this year or early next year. My first book is titled, Writer's Block, the story of Morgan Montgomery, a young romance writer struggling with writer's block. She has an idea of what the story is about, but is having trouble coming up with an opening paragraph that will captivate her readers. Her life becomes surreal as she is suddenly thrown into the middle of the criminal investigation. She is the only eye witness. She throws herself into the investigation much to the chagrin of the lead detective who is threatening to have her arrested for obstruction of justice, but knows he's the only one who can protect her from a drug dealing crime boss. All of my stories will take place in and around Duluth in northeastern Minnesota. Actually, if you look at any map of Minnesota, Lake Superior really does point to Duluth which sits at the western most edge of the lake. In addition to writing, I also find time for outdoor activities like skiing in the winter, and camping and fishing during the summer. |
